The Present Day Aviatik

The present Aviatiks are tractor biplanes with stream-line bodies. Their dimensions are practically the same as those of all German biplanes whose evolution they followed. After having a wing spread almost double the length of the airplane, the wings were shortened, while the length of the body remained the same.

The proper alignment of a machine largely determines the flying qualities of that machine. The alignment of the body should be done at the factory or in the repair shop, and is not dealt with here. The order in which the different parts of a machine should be aligned is as follows:
