Two new fighters and a sonic research plane have been revealed officially by the U. S. Air Force. They were: • McDonnell’s XF-88, a sweptwing, twin-jet penetration fighter capable of supersonic speeds. • Northrop’s XF-89, a heavy (30,000 lb.) straight wing, twin jet night fighter.
