Boeing 707 Starts Flight Test Program

Seattle—Boeing Airplane Co.’s big 707 jet tanker-transport prototype climbed steeply off the runway at Renton Airport in a dramatic start of its first flight July 15. One hour and 24 minutes later, pilot A. M. (Tex) Johnston and co-pilot R. L. (Dix) Loesch brought the yellow-and-brown craft in for a routine landing at nearby Boeing Field before a crowd of employes headed by president William M. Allen.
