Navy Plane Policy Cuts Field Changes

U. S. Navy has adopted a new aircraft procurement policy that delays full production and assignment of planes to the fleet until test work is completed and necessary assembly-line changes made. Called the “Murphy plan,” the program is similar to USAF’s earlier “Cook-Craigie” procurement policy (AVIATION WEEK Apr. 12, 1954, p. 13).

Republic Aviation Corp., Farmingdale, N. Y., has been granted a certificate of necessity of $3,150,000 with 55% allowed for accelerated tax amortization.
