The Aerospace Budget-I

The largest federal aerospace budget in history is contained in the Fiscal 1968 financial plan submitted by President Lyndon B. Johnson to Congress last week. Since the U.S. government remains the aerospace industry’s largest customer, this record volume of new business contained in the Fiscal 1968 budget is the key index to how the industry will fare over the next two calendar years.

Air Force wants to consolidate it's Systems Command's Space and Ballistic Systems Divs. into a single division located in Los Angeles. The reasoning: BSD workload has become relatively low, and Military Airlift Command needs the facilities now occupied by BSD at Norton AFB, Calif.

DOD Seeks Funds for Expanded Inventories of Aircraft, Missiles

Washington-New money request by President Johnson for the Defense Dept, will provide $28.2 billion to continue the rapid buildup of aircraft and missile inventories. The budget also reflects the assumption that Vietnam war requirements have stabilized in both manpower and equipment.
