Owego, N.Y.—New integrated navigation/weapon delivery system controlled by a digital computer is designed to increase the accuracy and versatility of the Ling-Temco-Vought/USAF A-7D and Navy A-7E attack aircraft. An order-of-magnitude improvement in navigation accuracy has been demonstrated and a three-fold improvement in weapon-delivery accuracy is predicted.

Advanced Alsep Configurations Evaluated

Philadelphia, Pa.—Evolutionary growth of the Apollo lunar scientific experiment package (Alsep) to an advanced system capable of long lifetime on the moon’s surface can be completed by application to other modes of exploration. Incorporation of recommendations for advanced lunar surface experiments into the Alsep was the subject of a study for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration by Bendix Corp.’s Aerospace Systems Div. Report on the study was made here to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics by the program manager, Eugene Zaitzeff.
