Los Angeles—Environmental control system on the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 airbus is designed to provide one-third to two-thirds more fresh air per passenger than systems on existing transports. The equipment is part of the transport’s Garrett AiResearch integrated pneumatic system, which also includes the auxiliary power unit and engine starters.

New York—Non-destructive testing of paving has saved time and money for the major airports here, as runways, taxiways and aprons are built or reinforced in preparation for the new giant transports. A total of 800 tests were made on working areas at Kennedy, Newark and LaGuardia airports.

Air Force is stepping up its anti-ballistic missile activities which now encompass airand space-based defense concepts and numerous technological developments related to ballistic missile defense. USAF recently initiated a twopronged effort on a “dual-role” Minuteman which might serve in both an offensive and a defensive role.
