Wingtip Flap System Provides Variable Wing Area, Sweep

Method of varying both the geometry and wing area of a variety of aircraft is being flight tested in Peru on a modified Beech 18. The concept, called the wingspan flap, is being developed by Fabrica Nacional de Aeroplanos S. A. (Fanasa), Peruvian aircraft company, under direction of Alberto Alvarez-Calderon, vice president-engineering.

Washington—Economic impact of general aviation in direct gross national product contributions will rise to $7.1 billion annually by 1980, an Aerospace Industries Assn. sponsored study has forecast. The study, conducted by R. Dixon Speas Associates, also indicated that the intangible value of general aviation to the economy is about half as great as the direct benefits.
