Los Angeles—Decision on an area navigation system for the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 transport is expected from the airframe company this week in what could prove to be a pattern setter for future transport navigation concepts. The corporation’s Douglas Aircraft Co. subsidiary will pick an area navigation supplier from among three finalists—AC Electronics Div. of General Motors, Collins Radio and Litton Industries—who are battling for a market that could amount to $100 million or more over the lifetime of the DC-10 program.
