Paris—World’s business jet aircraft manufacturers are facing a 4-5-year period of intensive sales competition, which was reflected at the 32nd Paris air show by intensive marketing activity by virtually all the major producers. Most major manufacturers have completed the process of reengining their existing aircraft with turbofan engines, providing a significant improvement both in range and economy over what the same airframes powered by turbojets were able to accomplish.

Brazil Seeking New Aircraft Markets

Paris—Embraer, Brazilian aircraft manufacturer, is opening an aggressive marketing campaign in developing nations in an attempt to capture major parts of markets previously dominated by U. S. or European manufacturers. At the same time, Brazil is coming under increasing fire from U. S. aircraft manufacturers who claim the country is restricting aircraft imports to aid Embraer, even in cases where Embraer makes no comparable aircraft.
