I have just returned from several days in Geneva, Switzerland, as a member of the U. S. congressional delegation to the Strategic Arms Limitation Talks, a post to which I was appointed by the Speaker of the House. As a measure of my interest in effective arms control, I am concurrently serving as a congressional delegate to the Conference of the Committee on Disarmament in Geneva and the United Nations special session on disarmament in New York City.

Center Designs Two Aircraft

Taichung, Taiwan—Nationalist China’s Aero Industry Development Center, which has broadened its technology base through license production programs on U. S. fighters, helicopters and small turbine engines, is completing two original aircraft designs that it may have to put into production by mid-1980 to absorb excess manufacturing capacity.

Taichung, Taiwan—License production of the USAF/Northrop F-5E fighter, major manufacturing activity at Nationalist China’s Aero Industry Development Center here, has progressed through five phases of increasing complexity since its inception in 1973.
