Reading, Pa. —Heavy emphasis on flight-training devices emerged as a major avionics trend at the 29th annual National Maintenance & Operations Meeting —the Reading show —here last week. Despite low cloud ceilings and intermittent showers that threatened portions of the scheduled air show, registrants for the technical exhibits crowded the main hangar June 7 after a slow start the day before.

Washington—Defense Dept, will soon introduce its new four-step source-selection procedure for virtually all weapon system and subsystem advanced engineering developments that cost more than $2 million. The new four-step procedure underwent a two-year evaluation, completed last fall, during which it was tried in 17 different military programs.
