A Final Word

This is the last editorial I will write as editor in chief of AVIATION WEEK & SPACE TECHNOLOGY. AS readers already know (AW&ST July 16, p. 21), on Aug. 1, I am changing my status with McGraw-Hill from editor and publisher of this magazine to a combination of retirement and consultant.

Four Army/Boeing Vertol CH-47C Chinook medium-lift helicopters are to depart next week for West Germany from Ft. Carson, Col., in an eight-day exercise to test the feasibility of deployment of such aircraft based in the continental U. S. to Europe in the event of war.
