S. will launch more than a dozen small satellites with military or scientific uses in the next few years to demonstrate technology that could bring major changes in military space operations in the 1990s. The community of lightweight satellite manufacturers, launch suppliers and payload builders is small but growing.

Air Force Seeks Approval to Begin Long-Range Cruise Missile Program

WASHINGTON The Air Force is seeking a Defense Aquisition Board (DAB) meeting before the end of the year to consider initiating a long-range conventional cruise missile (LRCCM) program, according to a senior service official. The technologies required to develop such a missile have already matured enough to warrant a demonstration/validation effort, but an operational requirement for LRCCM is still being defined, Lt. Gen. George Monahan, principal Air Force deputy for acquisition, told the Cruise Missile Association last week.

First Development Payment Received For European Trigat Antitank Weapon

PARIS The first installment of a billion-dollarplus development contract for a new generation of European antitank weapons has been awarded to the trinational Euromissile Dynamics Group (EMDG). The 2.34-billion French franc ($371million) installment was received by EMDG this month for development and production of the Trigat antitank weapons, which are expected to enter service in the 1990s.
