WASHINGTON The Defense Dept. plans to make 15 Lockheed P-3A antisubmarine warfare aircraft and 26 UH-1H utility helicopters available this year to civilian agencies for use against drug smugglers and growers. The Orions will be made available to the U. S. Customs Service, which now flies four P-3As with F-15 Flughes APG-63 radars in an air surveillance role to detect drug smugglers (AW&ST Jan. 30, p. 34).
