After graduation from the Air Force Academy in 1963, he saw combat duty as a fighter pilot and high-speedforward air controller in Vietnam and Thailand.

Maj.Gen. Robert A. McIntosh is chief of the Air Force Reserve, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington; and commander of the Air Force Reserve, a field operating agency at Robins AFB, Ga. As AFR chief, McIntosh is the principal adviser on Reserve matters to the Air Force chief of staff.
