The shrinking size of C-J band receivers made by General Instruments is seen from left to right in the ALR-66(V)3 designed in 1980, the ALR-66(V)5 designed in 1986 for the P-3C, and the 1989 version Lightweight ESM (LESM), currently under development. Dalmo Victor Vidcomp video compression system embodies adaptive processing algorithms that match data compression ratios to an operator-selected frame transmission rate for a given transmission channel bandwidth. The system is designed to accept inputs from any television camera (bottom center of photo) conforming to Electronic Industries Assn. (EIA) RS-170A standard, and to drive any television monitor (left) that is designed for this same standard. The system also requires a modulator at the transmitter and demodulator at the receiver, which must be compatible with the transmission medium that is being used.
