Shown in flight is a small test helicopter which Stanley Hiller, Jr., says embraces the basic design of production model now under development by his United Helicopters, Inc. at Palo Alto, Cal. Most interesting aspect of the design is that it is his first single-rotor ’copter, and he apparently has shelved his co-axial rotor arrangement as too complex.

Found Bros. FBA-2 Lightplane Makes Float Test Found Bros. Aviation, Ltd., Malton, Ontario, Canada is testing its utility FBA-2A with Edo Model 2870 floats. The all metal, four-five place, 250-hp. Lycoming-powered aircraft will be available in a tricycle version, the 2B, or a tailwheel version, the 2C, which is suitable for ski operations. Both configurations, according to the company, can be mounted on floats.

SLIDING ENGINE COWLING will be retained on the civil version of the FH-1100, as will a number of other military-inspired design features. Rotor head is oil lubricated and all oil reservoirs have sight gages to allow instant checking of fluid levels. Engine power will be increased to 270-hp. from the present 250-hp. when Allison 250-C18 is installed.
