Bell Ups Load, Cuts Price of 47d1

Bell Aircraft Corp. last week offered prospects an improved, more useful 178-hp. Model 47D1 helicopter at a lower price. By substituting steel rail skids for the usual wheels (photo, page 7), Bell has added nearly 40 lb. to the copter’s useful load (from 820 lb. to 859 lb.), and shaved the price from $23,500 to $21,950.
