Newport Beach, Calif.—A space vehicle for landing men on Mars for an extended scientific mission could be ready by 1975, but many of the uncertainties concerning the planet would have to be cleared up before such an expedition would have a good probability of success.

Redesigned Lunar Lander to Fly in August

Buffalo, N. Y.—Free-flight lunar landing research vehicle (LLRV) and astronaut trainer, which has undergone major redesign during the past year, is expected to make its first flight in August. Two LLRVs built by Bell Aerosystems Co. here under a $3,600,000 National Aeronautics and Space Administration contract have been sent to Edwards AFB, Calif.
