Sst May Cause Route Competition Curb
Los Angeles—Transcontinental airline operation of a supersonic transport would cost at least 26% more than present subsonic jets under current operating policies and regulations, a detailed analysis by United Air Lines contends. In order to equalize economics of the two types of aircraft, radical changes in these policies and procedures maybe necessary, including higher fares, institution of Spartan in-flight sendee and comfort levels and a reduction in competition on major routes.
