ATS Photos Reflect Weather Patterns

Potential economic impact of satellite surveillance on earth agriculture and commerce is apparent to scientists in early, crude photography from the new Applications Technology Satellite (AW&ST Dec. 12, p. 32). The satellite, in its first photo exercise, sent back pictures of impressive clarity that showed not only known weather conditions but also displayed patterns that were moving to influence adjacent areas.
