There are enough lessons in the recently concluded strategic arms limitation talks to keep our scholars, soldiers and statesmen busy for a long time. As we think about the experience of SALT 1 and prepare for the difficult negotiations of SALT 2, we would do well to ponder an old and wise Turkish proverb: “He burned his tongue on the soup, and now he blows on the yogurt.”

Air Taxi Mail Growth Stabilizes Carriers

Washington—Air taxi mail program operated by the U. S. Postal Service has outgrown most of its early problems and now is having a stabilizing effect on the taxi and commuter airline industry. The program was initiated in 1966 to facilitate movement of mail among smaller towns not served by certificated airlines and among larger cities where airline schedules do not meet Postal Service needs for moving mail late at night.
