V-22 Strakes to Counter Empennage Buffeting
WASHINGTON The Bell Boeing V-22 team is adding forebody strokes to the tilt-rotor aircraft to solve empennage buffeting problems uncovered during flight tests. "At high angles of attack and yawing angles we were getting some buffeting loads on the tail," Stuart D. Dodge, vice president, Bell Boeing V-22 program office, said.
