Airship C2 in Night Flight over New York—The Army airship C2, Capt. William E. Kepner, A.S., in command, made a fine night flight July 27-28. Leaving its station at Aberdeen, Md., at 5 p. m. the ship made a round trip to New York, which it reached in the middle of the night, and was back again at Aberdeen at 5.30 the next morning.

Dutch Instrument Competition for Fog Flying

The technical commission of the Royal Dutch Aero Club will hold a competition for the advancement of the safety of commercial aviation, with particular regard to landing in fog. Following are the rules of this competition: Prizes I. The chief prize of F. 3000.—(three thousand guilders) will be awarded to the person, that sends in the best apparatus (instrument or set of instruments), with which in an airplane, flying in a thick fog, the height above the ground or the surface of the water can be measured.

Colombia—Colombia is considered to be ahead of other South American countries in civil aviation, and the latest developments confirm this view. Since the beginning of September, the German-Colombian Aviation Co. established a regular service for mail and passengers along the following routes: Barranquilla-Giradot-Neiva and Barranquilla-Cartagena.
