The water-cooled Liberty was the first on which this modification was made and proved very satisfactory from a service standpoint, on account of the greater accessibility of the most important parts as well as on account of the greater vision afforded the pilot in the direct line of flight.

Dayton-Boston Record On Feb. 28, a new record was set for the 725 miles between Dayton and Boston when the distance was covered in 5 hr. 50 min. The trip was made by Lieut. Lyman P. Whitten and Bradley Jones, test pilot and instrument engineer, respectively, at McCook Field, Dayton.

Radio broadcasting of aviation progress and flying data is a regular feature of the work of the Long Beach Aero Club of Long Beach, Calif. This is done through broadcasting station KFON at Long Beach, 233 meters, by arrangement made by Hal Nichols, one of the owners of the broadcasting station and a leading member of the club.

Balloon and Airplane Races at Little Rock, Ark.

C. F. Sehory of Washington, D. C., Secretary of the Contest Committee of the National Aeronautic Association inspected the Little Rock, Ark., airport on Feb. 5, 1926. Mr. Schory stated that he was most favorably impressed with the development of aeronautics in Little Rock and the facilities available at the Little Rock Million Dollar Airport, which, he said, compared most favorably with the best in the United States.
