Three high-altitude balloons of 6,000 cu. ft. capacity, the first of the kind to be built in this country, have been manufactured in Akron, Ohio, by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and shipped to Fortress Monroe, Va., for experimentation by the United States Army Air Corps.

Coast Guard Air Service Inaugurated

With the delivery, recently, of three Loening Amphibian planes, the Air Service of the U. S. Coast Guard was formally inaugurated. These machines were the first constructed and delivered direct to the Coast Guard under the new appropriations authorized by Congress at its last session.
