Tokyo—Japan Air Lines is preparing for a world-wide role in which its Douglas DC-8 jets, scheduled for delivery next year, will play a prime part. Also figuring prominently in the airline’s future planning is the short-medium range jet transport and the vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) type aircraft to meet economic competition in its domestic and Asian routes.

However, the illustration which proceeds it based on William Morrow’s work at Lincoln Laboratories is misleading unless considerable explanation accompanies it.
