320b Provides Range, Payload Flexibility

First two months experience with the Boeing 320B in service with Pan American World Airways indicates the airplane can consistently fly nonstop west-bound on such long stages as London to Los Angeles or Honolulu-Tokyo. Pan Am, whose aircraft are designated 321B, used the 320B to inaugurate the first nonstop westbound jet service between London and the U. S. West Coast, flying the polar route in 134 hr. Eliminating the fuel stop at Winnipeg shaves an hour off the schedule time.

Mariner 2 Will Probe Venus Environment

Cape Canaveral—Mariner 2, scheduled for launch soon in a second attempt to make a Venus fly-by, will carry microwave and infrared radiometers to make measurements which may resolve long-standing questions on the planet’s atmosphere and temperature.
