An Aeronaves de Mexico DC-8-21, Mexican Registration XA-XAX, crashed and burned following a balked takeoff from runway 7R, New York International Airport, New York, N.Y., Jan. 19, 1961, about 2017.1 Four of the nine crew members were killed; all 97 passengers survived but some were injured.
