Ranger 8 Lunar Photos Appear to Confirm Ranger 7 Data

Pasadena—High resolution pictures obtained by the Ranger 8 spacecraft appear to confirm the findings of Ranger 7 that surface slopes and smoothness of the lunar seas are satisfactory for landing the Apollo Lunar Excursion Module. However, the critical question of surface bearing strength, not expected to be determined by Ranger photographs, remains to be definitely answered.
