Long Beach, Calif.—Douglas Aircraft Co.’s Series 60 jet transports, extended-size and longer-range versions of the DC-8, will incorporate building block concepts which will result in three distinct aircraft utilizing some common features and relying heavily on proved elements of earlier DC-8s.

Washington—Vital factor in the Boeing 727 earning capabilities is its flexibility, which makes flights as short as 80 naut. mi. practical in schedule patterns which may have nonstop segments as long as 1,250 mi. This advantage was apparent from the time the 727 entered service (AW&ST Apr. 5, p. 37), and has been strengthened not only by reasonably low operating costs but also by an enthusiastic acceptance of the aircraft by air travelers.
