Vfr Deviation Cited in Tahoe Crash

A Paradise Airlines Lockheed L-049, N86504, Flight 901A, crashed 9 naut. mi. northeast of the Tahoe Valley Airport at 1129 PST, Mar. 1, 1964. All 85 occupants of the aircraft perished in the crash, and the aircraft was destroyed. N86504 was en route to the Tahoe Valley Airport from Oakland, Calif., with intermediate stops at Salinas and San Jose, Calif.

Blacksburg, Va.—Manned flights to Mars and Venus will be possible by the mid-1970s with hardware developed for the Apollo program through use of planetary “Swing-by” trajectories to control spacecraft velocity and earth re-entry angles, according to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration mission planner.
