National Aeronautics and Space Administration is concentrating its advanced human factors research on developing the technology to sustain man for the durations required to reach Mars. This research effort includes basic physiological investigations to qualify the human system for long space journeys, work on regenerative life support systems and studies of the extent to which man can function as an integral part of spacecraft systems.
