3 All-cargo Carriers Aim at Major Market in Pacific Case

Washington-All three U.S. all-cargo carriers are vying for the opportunity to apply their specialized service to the Pacific area in order to exploit what they believe to be a major potential market. Departing from this basic agreement, however, Airlift International, Flying Tiger Line and Seaboard World Airlines separate over which of them should provide the service, how it should be provided and the cargo rates necessary to make it a profitable operation.

Technique Adds Electronic Scan to Precision Monopulse Radars

Moorestown, N. J.-Technique that adds electronic beam steering to the mechanical slewing of precision monopulse radars has been developed by Radio Corp. of America’s Missile and Surface Radar Div. here. The array that results from application of RCA’s radar electronic scan technique (REST) antenna enables the converted radar to track simultaneously as many as 20 targets within a 10-deg. electronic scanning cone.

TV Broadcast Satellite Study Proposals Evaluated at Marshall

Los Angeles-Industry proposals submitted recently for a television broadcast satellite study are being evaluated by NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. Prime purpose of the nine-month effort will be to define technology and cost factors affecting the feasibility of such satellites in the 1970-75 span.

End of the Paris air show was punctuated by the tragic crash of the Fouga Magister in the Patrouille de France which failed to recover from a vertical bomb-burst dive. The crash ironically came in the final moment of the flying display, where safety had been heavily stressed by authorities and faithfully observed by most participants.
