British Overseas Airways Corp. (BOAC), Boeing 707 G-APFE, scheduled Flight 911, departed Tokyo International Airport for Hong Kong on Mar. 5, 1966. at 1358 hr. (All times in this report are Japan Standard Time.) After takeoff, when the aircraft was making a VMC climb via Fuji-Rebel, it broke up over Gotenba city.

Airpower Over North Vietnam

The tempo of the air campaign in the north has been based on a gradual and controlled application of power. Our initial operations were limited to impeding and disrupting the movement of men and materials southward. During 1966. the preponderance of our effort was expended on attacking the enemy's lines of communication well south of Hanoi and Haiphong, while the target systems in the northeast quadrant of North Vietnam, where the bulk of his war-supporting resources are concentrated, remained functional.
