Airline Data Systems Seen Cutting Costs

New generation of airline data processing systems now being phased into operation promises increased benefits in efficiency and resultant costs. Continental Airlines in Los Angeles, for example, finds that use of its new International Business Machines System/360 computer complex has led to a 15% drop in reservation service cost and 12% decrease in passenger departure processing expenditures, according to Mauro Weissman, computer system program director for the airline.
