Kansas City, Mo.—Trans World Airlines’ prior wide-bodied aircraft experience and its strict aircraft acceptance standards have helped smooth introduction of the Lockheed L-1011 into its operations. Initial scheduling was disrupted by the late delivery of its first six wide-bodied TriStars, with the delays ranging from two to three months.

One of the philosophical arguments advanced was that a warat-sea type force would rid us of the worry of having nuclear attacks on United States soil because there would be no land-based strategic weapons to hit.
