Simplicity Is Stressed in F-15 Operations, Maintenance

Edwards AFB, Calif.—Simplicity in operations and maintenance is proving to be a built-in characteristic of the McDonnell Douglas F-15, according to USAF officials in the aircraft’s flight test program here. The new Air Force fighter, which will become fully operational in 1976, was designed from the outset to provide its oneman crew with a simplified, highly automatic air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons delivery system.

Long Beach, Calif.—Modified McDonnell Douglas DC-10 cargo compartment doors, equipped with a new closed-loop device designed to insure further against accidental opening in flight, are being installed on the 130 wide-body trijets currently in service.
