Ballistics Unit Tests Research Concepts

Eglin AFB, Fla.—Free flight aeroballistics test facility, a new $2.5-million indoor range designed to support exploratory and advanced development experiments of Air Force’s Armament Laboratory, is slated to begin full-scale operations in September. The facility houses 55 shadowgraph stations electronically operated along the 730-ft. range to obtain photographs of projectiles in flight after they are fired from test stand gun mounts.
