Stratford, Conn.—Sikorsky Aircraft Div. of United Technologies is seeking to interest other government agencies in supporting the high-speed auxiliary-propulsion phase of the XH-59A advancing-blade concept (ABC) test helicopter program in the face of an almost-certain cutoff of Army funds at the end of September.

Grand Rapids, Mich.—Initial production decision on the USAF/Lear Siegler AN/ARN-101 computer-controlled navigation and weapons delivery system may be reached as early as next month. Lear Siegler won a competition against ITT Avionics and an initial $9.6-million award from USAF’s Electronic Systems Div. last summer (AW&ST Aug. 4, 1975, p. 24).

Washington—Data from the Soviet Venera-9 and -10 Venus landers indicate Venusian rocks at the landing sites have a density and composition of natural radioactive elements similar to those found in terrestrial basalts. The data is consistent with information transmitted from the Venera-8 Soviet Venus lander (AW&ST July 31, 1972, p. 18).

Our industry has just experienced the best dollar sales year in history, with over $1 billion in billings on aircraft shipments of 14,072 units in 1975. This is a significant milestone. The 1975 performance reflects a 13.6% increase in billings over 1974, when sales of $909 million were reported on shipments of 14,166 units.
