Los Angeles—Air Force is planning a flight test program of an advanced maneuverable reentry vehicle capable of evading any Soviet ballistic missile interceptors should Defense Dept. elect to deploy the vehicle on U. S. ICBMs. The Advanced Ballistic Reentry Systems (ABRES) Office at Air Force’s Space and Missile Systems Organization has asked General Electric and McDonnell Douglas to submit proposals next month for design, fabrication and flight test of the advanced maneuverable reentry vehicle (AMARV).
