E-2c Radar to Provide New Flexibility

Washington—First production model of an improved Grumman E-2C, whose radar can automatically detect and track low-flying targets over land as well as over water, is scheduled for delivery to the Navy in December. The improved General Electric radar, designated the AN/APS-125, also reduces susceptibility to enemy noise-jamming through the antenna sidelobes as well as providing a modest increase in detection range.
