E-2c Radar to Provide New Flexibility

Washington—First production model of an improved Grumman E-2C, whose radar can automatically detect and track low-flying targets over land as well as over water, is scheduled for delivery to the Navy in December. The improved General Electric radar, designated the AN/APS-125, also reduces susceptibility to enemy noise-jamming through the antenna sidelobes as well as providing a modest increase in detection range.

A 4,800-mi. airborne commando raid by the Israeli Defense Force freed 115 Air France hijacked passengers and crew, killed all seven Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine hijackers involved plus 20 Ugandan soldiers and destroyed 11 MiG jet fighters at Entebbe Airport on July 4.
