Pioneer 11 to Fly Outside Saturn Rings

Mountain View, Calif.—Pioneer 11 spacecraft will be directed to fly just outside the rings of the planet Saturn during encounter next year so that it can function as a pathfinder for the two Voyager spacecraft scheduled to arrive at the giant planet in 1980 and 1981.
