NTSB Studies DC-9 Runway Overrun

Texas International Flight 987, a McDonnell Douglas DC-9-14, crashed after rejecting a takeoff from Runway 8 right at Stapleton International Airport, Denver, Colo. The takeoff was rejected when the stall warning stickshaker activated after the aircraft had rotated for takeoff.

USAF Funds MX Extendable Cone Tests

Washington—U. S. Air Force is funding firing tests of extendable exit cones for the second and third stages of MX, the advanced intercontinental ballistic missile. The tests will be conducted by Hercules Aerospace Div. and Thiokol Corp. under direction of USAF’s Rocket Propulsion Laboratory to provide advanced technology demonstrations.
