London—Evolutionary improvements in flight simulator systems are reflecting their broadening role as flight crew training programs progress toward the objective of 100% simulation—total training in simulators with only flight checks performed in the actual aircraft—a survey of major European simulator manufacturers indicates.

About 25 sec. after N12MK had been requested to report crossing the 051-deg. radial 10-mi. DME fix, the flight called “mike kilo’s crossed the radial.” The flightcrew’s report that they had crossed the radial was erroneous. The Palm Springs 051-deg. radial exists in the northeast quadrant of the VORTAC, and the flight never entered that area.

S. is focusing its particle beam development efforts on pulsed power generation and pointing and tracking, both major technology areas needed to support production of beam weapons systems. Technology development can be accomplished with particle beam accelerators using commercial power sources and capacitor banks, but the large size of these banks prohibits their use in mobile beam weapon devices.
