Omega Matures as Long-range Navaid
Monrovia, Liberia—Omega navigation system, maturing as a long-range navaid, is nearing approval as a stand-alone system for transoceanic service. Viewed originally by international air carriers as one of two retrofit options that could replace directly the older Loran-A system following the announced termination of that service, Omega is demonstrating navigational capabilities that support its adoption as a stand-alone aid without complementary Doppler or other systems.
