Crosscurrents at Farnborough

Two big high-pressure centers over Europe and the mid-Atlantic flooded the manicured green countryside of southern England with sunshine last week, an unprecedented string of rainless, balmy, mild days for the Farnborough air show. The smiling weather symbolized something of the economic climate for the aerospace industry, relatively unscathed by the recession that has afflicted automobiles or agriculture or steel.
