Largely lost in the high noise level of the theological controversy over airline deregulation has been the fate of the passenger who has to fly with what the theorists have wrought. For the most part, the changes for the passenger have not been catastrophic so far.

F-16XL Readied for Flight Testing

Ft. Worth, Tex. —Flight testing of General Dynamics’ new company-funded F16XL cranked-arrow wing fighter, scheduled to fly here July 6, will include simulated air-to-air and air-to-ground combat tactics. The aircraft will make its first flight powered by a Pratt & Whitney F100PW-200 turbofan engine, with General Dynamics test pilot Jim McDinney at the controls.

Guided-Weapon System

Los Angeles —Rockwell International GBU-15 guided-weapon system will be integrated with Royal Australian Air Force/General Dynamics F-111C aircraft under a contract awarded to Rockwell’s Missile Systems Div. Under the $668,000 contract, Rockwell will provide required engineering and test support for integration of the GBU-15 television-guided glide bomb system into the Australian aircraft.
