Advances in the French industry were highlighted here recently at the Le Bourget naval equipment exhibition, which is held every two years as a French industry showcase for foreign customers.

Travel agents’ access to objective, up-tothe-minute information on air fares and seat availability is increasing as a result of innovations incorporated into computerized reservations systems in recent years. Unlike older automation systems, which furnished information from one source only—the sponsoring airline’s computer— the newer systems can extract data from various airlines’ computers when searching for fares schedules, seat availability, and related travel information.

Analysis Points to Meteorite Coming From Mars

Johnson Space Center—Evidence is growing that a meteorite discovered in Antarctica is from Mars, blasted from the Martian surface by an impact that hurled it into an escape trajectory toward the Earth. Johnson Space Center scientists studying the rock here characterized the sample as “being as historic and scientifically significant as the first lunar material returned to Earth by the Apollo 11 astronauts.”

Ft. Huachuca, Ariz.—U. S. Army could, if necessary, field the Aquila remotely piloted vehicle (RPV) system that Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. used for its initial series of development tests here, according to program manager Col. Robert D. Evans of the Army’s Aviatipn Research and Development Command (Avradcom).
